Hello, how can we help?

Silhouette

There are a few different reasons a file will not open in Silhouette Studio. The most common are listed below.

- The file folder hasn’t been unzipped, you will need to make sure you unzip the folder before opening the files, or you will receive a file not supported error.

- If you have the Basic version of Studio that came with your Cameo you will need to open the DXF file. Opening an SVG in the Basic edition of Silhouette Studio will give you a file not supported error.

- If you are trying to open an OTF or TTF font file in Silhouette Studio, you will also get a file not supported error. Fonts are system files that must be installed to your computer prior to using it in Silhouette Studio.

- Last but not least, if it is unzipped, not a font file, and you are selecting the appropriate file extension -- please make sure you are not looking inside of the MACOSX file. If your file name begins with ._ then it is a MACOSX file. These are useless files that are created when a folder is zipped on a Mac and unzipped on a Windows computer. It is not a working file.

To obtain the working file, please go back to your main folder, and you will see the regular files/folders listed below the MACSOX folder, those are the ones you will want to choose.
