Simple DIY Holiday Cards with Overlays

Posted on 1st November 2018

In my other post, I just rounded up 10 festive fonts perfect for your holiday cards.  Now I'm rounding up 10 overlays for your holiday cards, so between these two posts, you should be all set to design your own cards this year!

Simply open your favorite photo editing software like photoshop and select your photo(s).  Then easily layer one of these overlays on top until you love the effect.  Finish it off with the perfect font for your message and save your project.  You can print them yourselves or send them to a print shop for your holiday cards this year.

Your family and friends will be so impressed with your custom designs!

1.  Christmas Light Overlays

These Chrismas lights overlays are perfect to add a little festiveness to your family photo!  Use them to light up a focal point or add a border.

2.  Winter and Christmas Overlays

The Winter photo overlay collection is a big set of hand-drawn style elements, lettering, quotes and wreaths for winter design and holiday decorations.  Pack includes 48 lettering and quotes, 12 wreaths, 25 decorative elements and 12 pre-made cards ( clipart mixed with lettering).

3.  Coniferous Forest

Coniferous forest design set is filled with DIY flowers elements, watercolor forest elements, and magic watercolor shapes.  This collection contains many ready-made graphics: frames, DIY elements, florals and more.  Add a handpainted look to your card!

4.  Friday Blush

Friday Blush design set is filled with DIY flowers elements, houses elegant uppercase letter, color palette, seamless pattern, and magic textures shapes.  You might be thinking, "How is this Christmas related?"  Well, a modern look is using the geometric shapes as a frame around your photo and add some winter floral around the outside.

5. 20 Christmas Photo Overlays

20 different white color Snowflake Photo Overlays.  Easy to use.  The layers in the PNG format with transparent background. Can be used with any software that works with PNG format, Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc.  This adds instant holiday magic to any photo!

6.  51 Christmas Tree Branch Overlays

Bundle of Christmas tree branch overlays which help you to make the perfect composition for any photo.  Instantly get the Christmas tree farm magic look on any photo while adding dimension.

7.  Christmas Quotes Bundle

Add a burst of color to your card design using these fun quotes.  I would design a block of white space at the bottom or side edge to place one of these Christmas quotes and have the photo above or to the side.  This would also make a great background if you use several quotes together for the back of the card instead of having an unfinished back.

8.  Photography Christmas Card Template

Not a photoshop pro?  Not to worry with this simple to use photography card template.  This comes with instructions on how to add your own photo to make your own Christmas card in a few easy steps.  There are several designs like this!

9.  40 Christmas Photo Overlays

40 Hand Lettered Christmas Photo Overlays + a free Christmas doodles symbol font!  These photo overlays will be the perfect addition to any of your Holiday photos, Christmas cards, social media posts, greeting cards, gift tags, and basically anything Christmas related!

The FREE symbols font that is included in this package will add cute Christmas doodles to any project you are working on! All you have to do is type a letter {uppercase or lowercase} and a fun doodle will show up. There is a doodle for each letter of the alphabet - both uppercase and lowercase.

10.  Holiday Photography Set

This holiday photography set is a good mixture of everything!  If you can't decide what look you're going for this set gives you plenty of options.

Of course there is plenty more of where these came from!  I'm just here to present a wide range of products to help jump start your project ideas so you can take the reigns and design your one of a kind project.

It's never too early to start thinking about your holiday cards this year, it's a fast ride into the New Year after Halloween.
