Wood Font Four

A display and decorative font built upon the theme of wood. Great for display purposes in projects about nature and environmental topics

First shown as Rustic No. 2, issued in 1845/6 by Figgins [Gray] and as Ornamented No. 3 by Bruce. Available from many 19th-century foundries (Besley, Boston, Fann St., Ullmer) as Rustic. The design differed in different sizes, and eventually included regular, shaded, and outline shaded versions.

It was recut in 1962 or earlier by John S. Carroll as “Rustic or Log Cabin … from Bruce’s Ornamented No. 864.” [McGrew 1993]
