How to Use Digital Scrapbook Templates in Canva

Did you know that you can use digital scrapbook templates in Canva? Canva is an amazing browser based platform for creating engaging social media content. Digital content paired with scrapbooking is a fun and easy way of sharing memories with everyone.

We are using the Free Version of Canva. You can also create digital scrapbook pages in Canva with our visual guide to get you started.

Step 1 - Upload your Scrapbook Template

After you have signed into Canva, locate your purchased file and open the PDF. In the PDF file you will find a link to open and use the Canva template.

A new window containing your template will open. Here you can edit the scrapbook pages with the various creative tools available.

Step 2 - Add Images to Digital Scrapbook Template

Let’s begin by uploading our images that we want to add to the template. Once uploaded, the images will appear in the left hand side.

Add Images to Template Placeholders

The Canva template consists of easy to use placeholders. Just drag and drop your image from the left side panel over to the image in the template. Once you release the mouse button, your image replaces the one on the template.

Placeholders will automatically crop your images to fit.

Resize Image and Placeholder

If you are a Canva Pro user, have a look at our tutorial on how to resize your image more accurately. For those using the free version, click + drag a corner handle in or out to resize the placeholder and image.

Add Image to Template Background

The background is also a placeholder. You can click + drag an image over the background to add it to the template.

Carry on to add your images to the digital scrapbook template in Canva.

Step 3 - Edit the Scrapbook Template Text

You can use the text placeholders in the template or use the text options in Canva.

Edit Text on Template

If you want to just edit the text, double click to enter the text edit mode. Then begin typing what you want.

Delete Template Placeholders

As we want to use a different font set up, we decided to delete the top text placeholder. Click to select then either hit Delete on the keyboard or click on the Dustbin icon top right.

Add New Text Element to Template

On the left side, click on Text. You can add your own headings or use ready made text placeholders. We added the Modern Wedding Text Group, then edited the text.

Edit Remaining Text in Template

Carry on to text the remaining text or add as needed for the entire template. Once we have added our text we can then decide what effects to apply.

If needed you can also use Tidy Up to evenly space your text or objects in Canva.

Step 4 - Apply Effects to Canva Template

You can apply text effects to your digital scrapbook template. This will create more of a visual impact and attract the reader’s attention. It’s also a great way to add some of your personal style.

Step 5 - Adjust Design Elements of Scrapbook Template

Did you know that you can adjust the other design elements in a Canva template?

Edit the Torn Paper Corner

Select the torn paper element top right then click on Edit Image top toolbar.

On the left side panel, you can adjust the Brightness, Contrast and Saturation. Why not add a Filter or explore the Photogenic editing options? We applied some basic editing in the image below to lighten the design element.

Change the Background Color

To change the background color, click to select. Then click on the Color Picker square top left. Now, in the left side panel pick a color.

Change the colors of any other elements in the same way if you want. We changed the thin frame to a dark red in the image below.

Complete editing all of the pages of your template. Our scrumptious digital scrapbook template is now ready to download and share with everyone.

When saving a multiple page template, Canva will ask if you want to download all or selected pages.

The file will download as a zip folder, which can be unzipped to your PC or Mac. There we go, our digital scrapbook pages are now ready to be shared.
