How to Make a Monogram in Cricut Design Space

Today we’ll show you how to make a monogram in Cricut Design Space. Personalized monograms are very popular for several reasons and can be seen on pillows, bags, towels, gifts, and more!

Before we begin, download and unzip your files to the computer. Then upload your SVG to Cricut Design Space for your frame.

Step 1 - Add a Frame

To add the uploaded frame, click on the Upload icon, select the frame, and click Add to Canvas.

Note: you can make a monogram without a frame if you want.

Step 2 - Zoom In if Needed

Click the plus (+) icon at the bottom left of the canvas to zoom in if needed.

Step 3 - Add Text

Now click the Text icon in the left toolbar and type the letters you want for your monogram. You can use one, two, three, or even four letters.

Step 4 - Change the Font

With the text selected, click on the current font above. In the Fonts popup window, you can search for your font by name or filter the list in the top right corner. Then locate and select your font. We used the clean modern sans serif font, Strombon, from Font Bundles.

Step 5 - Ungroup the Text

With the text still selected, click UnGroup.

Step 6 - Resize and Move the Letters to Fit Inside the Frame

Adjust the size of each letter and move them around to fit inside the frame. We’ll be making the middle letter slightly larger to be the featured letter of the monogram. You can also overlap your letters a little if you want.

To quickly center your middle letter to the frame, select the letter and the frame while holding Shift. Then click Align > Center Horizontally and Align > Center Vertically in the top toolbar.

Resize the other two letters and place them on the sides of the middle letter. Our letters now fit inside the frame.

Step 7 - Group the Letters

Select the letters and click on Group. Make sure they're all the same color so they get cut out together.

Step 8 - Weld Letters if Needed

Weld your monogram letters if they’re overlapping, so they’re cut out as a single object. Select the letters and click Weld at the bottom of the Layers panel. Our letters are not overlapping, so we’ll skip this step for our monogram.

Step 9 - Attach the Entire Design if Needed

You’ll want to use the Attach function on the entire design if you want to cut it out exactly how it looks. Select the entire design and click Attach at the bottom of the Layers panel.

Step 10 - Cut Out Your Monogram Design

Select the Make It button in the top right corner.

You’ll see a preview of the cut. If you’re happy with how it looks, click Continue and follow the prompts to cut your file.

Note: if you didn’t attach your entire design, you might see pieces on separate mats or pieces next to each other on the mat.
