Creating Rhinestone Templates in Silhouette Studio

Learn how to create Rhinestone Templates in Silhouette Studio with this super quick tutorial.

Have you always been interested in creating Rhinestone Templates in Silhouette Studio? Then follow this tutorial as we guide you on how to get started. Rhinestone designs are beautiful decorations to add to t-shirts, masks, and so much more.

We will be using these animal zentangle patterns to create our rhinestone template. We have even more Zentangle Patterns to choose from if you want other options.

Step 1 - Open then Trace your Image

Before we can create the rhinestone template, we will need to trace the design. Once you have opened Silhouette Studio, click on the File icon at the top. You can also go to File > Open or drag and drop the image onto the mat.

Locate and open the selected design.

On the right side toolbar, select Open Trace Panel.

Select then trace your image using Select Trace Area.

After tracing the image, you can shift the original to the side to see the trace lines. Alternatively, you can delete the original as it’s no longer needed.

Step 2 - Create a Rhinestone Template

On the right side panel, click on Open the Rhinestone Panel. You may need to click on the small arrow at the bottom right to see additional panels.

Select your traced image. Now, click on the second icon called Edge in the Rhinestone Panel. Your cut lines will change into little circles. This will be your rhinestone template.

You can adjust the Size according to the size of your rhinestones. You can also adjust the Spacing between the stones if needed.

When your template is ready, you can click on Release Rhinestones. But, take note that once you follow this action, you can no longer edit the rhinestone template using the Rhinestone Panel.
