Conical Warp Tool in Silhouette V4.1

The Conical Warp tool in Silhouette Studio V4.1 is an extremely useful design tool. It allows you to warp your designs to fit the curved or conical shapes of your projects. These can include tumblers, rounded objects, jars and more. This makes placing your designs much easier. In this tutorial we will show you how to use the Conical Warp tool in Silhouette Studio.

Please note, this feature is only available in Designer Edition Plus and Business Edition. Let’s begin by opening Silhouette Studio.

The design we are using is from this barbeque svg bundle but we also have tons of SVG Files available on Design Bundles.

Step 1 - Locate the Conical Warp Tool

Open your design in Silhouette Studio, then center it to the page. Do this by clicking on Open the Transform Panel. Now, click on the Center to Page.

At the bottom right, click on Open the Warp Panel icon that looks like a mesh. In the Warp panel, click on the Conical Warp icon.

Step 2 - Use the Conical Warp Tool

With the design selected, click on Conical Warp Selected Shapes. You will see a conical shape appear around the design.

Adjust the Conical Warp

Once you have measured the tumbler or object you want to use, you can input the measurements. You can also adjust the tumbler in the preview by clicking + dragging on one of the color nodes.

The green node moves up and down while the red and blue nodes move from side to side.

The Top Width, Base Width and Slant Height adjust the tumbler size.

You won’t be able to manually adjust the size and position of the design with the bounding box handles. Instead, you need to move the sliders for the Design Width and Design Vertical Position.

Change the Conical Warp View

If you want, the preview of the tumbler can be changed. Place your cursor over the angle icon bottom right of the preview. It will turn into a hand. Now you can click + drag up or down to change the view.

This will have no effect on the Conical Warp itself.

Now, you may want to leave the Conical Warp editable. That is, carry on working but come back to edit the warp at some point.

To do this, click away from the design and edit as needed. The conical shape will disappear. If you want to edit it, just click back on the design.

The warp shape will not be visible in the Send panel.

If, however, you are happy with everything,click on Apply. Take note that once you do this, the Conical Warp can no longer be edited.

Now that you have applied the Conical Warp, you can move the design anywhere on the mat.

If you are adding multiple designs to an object, first select all the objects. Then click on Conical Warp Selected Shapes. The multiple designs will be adjusted to fit.
